It happens to all of us from time to time. You get an email – typically from an acquaintance or a larger company (for example Dropbox or PayPal) – in which there is an invitation in more or less well-formulated Danish or English to click on a link. Most of us are also quick to spot the mystery that 72-year-old and very near-sighted Aunt Gerda suddenly writes “hey, check this out!” But as time progresses, the criminal backers get better and better at making the messages look credible.
Therefore, two researchers at Aalborg University are working on algorithms that can automatically identify the malicious IP addresses and domain names that send these messages.
